Autumn Project end of life rooms
6 AUGUST 2022
Thanks to your donations, ‘The Autumn Project’, has been funded to provide spaces for patients at the end of their life and their loved ones.
This special space is a more homely environment for the patient and their loved ones during this difficult time, providing a comfortable setting to allow loved ones all the facilities they need without needing to leave their loved one.
The first Autumn room was officially opened at Scarborough Hospital in 2022, thank you to all our amazing donors who make important projects like this a reality.
The Cornforth Family share their experience of the room;
"On behalf of the family, Greta’s daughter, Andrea, would like to thank all of the staff on Ann Wright for providing Greta with the most amazing care during her 12 days stay a couple of weeks ago. She was in one of the Autumn Rooms and passed away peacefully which was all made possible by yourselves.
As a nurse, I know how difficult it is, but as a daughter I was amazed by the level of care you all gave my Mum and cannot thank you enough for being there for us all.
She was due to be moved to the Hospice, but due to limited transport, this was not possible. My Dad said “she wouldn’t be any better cared for if she’d have moved and was glad she stayed in the hospital”.
