Radios bring joy to Chestnut Ward at Scarborough Hospital
12 JANUARY 2024
Thanks to your donations, new DAB radios have been funded for the Chestnut Ward at Scarborough Hospital. This new addition is set to make a big impact on the patient experience. It will offer comfort, companionship, and a touch of entertainment to those in need.
Tanya Barbara, Chestnut Housekeeper, said “Patients will definitely enjoy the radios. Unfortunately, not all our bays/side rooms have access to televisions. This can make the space feel lonely, especially when the patient is in a side room. Radios in areas without televisions will brighten patients’ days. This is even more important if they lack visitors.“
Patients will now have the opportunity to stay connected with the world. They can keep up to date with the latest news, tune in to their favourite radio shows, and sing along to cherished tunes.
These radios will also become a valuable topic of conversation for caregivers, creating meaningful interactions with patients.
The DAB radios will also enhance the well-being of patients who may be isolated or unable to access other forms of entertainment. Your generous donations have brightened the days of patients on the Chestnut Ward. They offer a ray of joy and comfort during their stay.
