Asthma Relief Charity nebuliser donation
25 FEBRUARY 2025
Thank you to the Asthma Relief Charity for their generous donation of a state-of-the-art nebuliser for the York and Scarborough Cystic Fibrosis service. This service provides care and management to individuals living with Cystic Fibrosis across the region, ensuring they receive the highest standards of treatment.
Kath France, Advanced Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist, Cystic Fibrosis, explained: “People with Cystic Fibrosis require nebulised therapy daily, often multiple times per day. By using the cutting-edge technology of vibrating mesh, medication is delivered quickly, efficiently and quietly from the handheld device. The devices are portable and discrete so that this minimises disruption to the person’s life so that they can nebulise on the go. Historic nebulisers are large, bulky, noisy and less efficient in delivery which increases treatment burden and affects the person’s ability to adhere to treatment.'
A patient also said of the new equipment “I remember the old nebulisers and they took so long and were so noisy! Now I can take my neb to work with me and if I travel it fits easily into my bag”. This collaboration between the Asthma Relief Charity and the York and Scarborough Cystic Fibrosis service highlights the impact community support can have on healthcare delivery. Such initiatives ensure that patients with chronic respiratory conditions receive the care they need to lead healthier, more fulfilling lives.
