Trauma x-ray compatible patient trolley for orthopaedic outpatients
9 JANUARY 2025
York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity has demonstrated its commitment to improving patient care and staff efficiency by providing funding for a new trauma x-ray compatible patient trolley for the orthopaedic outpatient’s department. This newly funded equipment addresses a critical need for patients who are unable to sit in a chair during transportation within the hospital.
Before the introduction of the new trolley, transporting patients who could not sit in a chair posed significant challenges for both staff and patients. The orthopaedic department relied on borrowing trolleys from other areas of the hospital, which often resulted in delays and increased stress for staff as they waited for availability. For patients, the lack of dedicated transport equipment sometimes led to discomfort and extended waiting times.
Sister Sue Kelly from orthopaedic outpatient’s department expressed her gratitude for the new trolley, emphasising its impact:
“The new trauma x-ray compatible trolley will make a huge difference to patient comfort and also ambulance turnover time. It will save hours of staff time and reduce the stress of waiting for an available trolley from another department."
