FAQs
The Great North Swim takes places in Windermere, Lake District from 13 – 15 June 2025.
When you confirm your place, you’ll choose your start time. The start times are spread across Friday 13, Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 June.
Our charity places are only for the 1-mile distance. At the wider event you can choose from six different open water swimming distances to suit all ages, abilities, and level of experience. If you wish to swim a different distance you will need to secure your own place, but you are still welcome to fundraise for the charity! The 1-mile is suitable for swimmers of all abilities and is equivalent to 64 lengths of a standard 25m pool. The average completion time is approx. 40 minutes. You can choose to enjoy a leisurely breaststroke while taking in the scenery or kick in to crawl for a faster time.
Yes, participants must be at least 16 years old.
We encourage participants to raise a minimum of £100. Your sponsorship will go towards supporting staff and patients who visit our hospitals across the Trust.
Yes you can. Get in touch and we can provide sponsorship forms and supply you with collection tins and personalised posters for local shops and pubs.
Yes – simply let us know if you have a specific hospital, ward or department that you would like to support.
Once you've signed up to the challenge you will receive your welcome email, with instructions about how to redeem your place. Once your place has been redeemed, you'll be able to set up a fundraising page to help you reach your target!
No, we do not put on any transport or accommodation. More information about the day will be provided once registered.
