Memorial Golf Day celebrates fifth year supporting the Intensive Care Unit
12 SEPTEMBER 2024
A memorial golf day hosted by local resident Andy Charlton has raised £2,899 for York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity to benefit the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at York Hospital.
Held in memory of Andy’s late brother Steve, the NC72 golf day has supported the unit for the last 5 years, raising a grand total of £9,656 to support the ICU.
This year’s event took place last month at Aldwark Manor Golf Course and saw a remarkable turnout of 88 golfers all in support of such a worthwhile cause. The Golf Day has grown in significance each year, with local residents including the continued support of Gary Raper and Lorna Corson as well as local businesses rallying together to honour Steve’s memory and give back to the community.
Andy Charlton expressed his appreciation for the ongoing support, stating,
“The NC72 Memorial Golf Day has grown beyond what I could have imagined. It’s heartwarming to see how the community comes together year after year to support the ICU at York Hospital’’.
The funds raised will be used to enhance the facilities and resources available directly benefiting the patients who rely on the dedicated care provided by the ICU medical team.
Becky White, Community Fundraiser at York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Andy and the team for organising the golf day and choosing to fundraise for the Intensive Care Unit. It is always fantastic to see local supporters come together to raise funds whilst enjoying a great event’.
