Local duo take on 7 day half marathon challenge for York cancer patients
31 JANUARY 2025

Friends Matt and Ollie are pushing themselves to the limit by running seven half marathons in seven days to raise funds for the Magnolia Centre at York Hospital. Kicking off on Saturday, 5 April, they’re aiming to reach their £1,000 fundraising target to support cancer patients and their families.
The challenge is deeply personal, as Matt’s dad has spent significant time at the Magnolia Centre receiving treatment. Inspired by the care he received, the pair are determined to give back and help enhance patient care and services.
As cricket enthusiasts, they’re adding an extra test of endurance—after each half marathon, they’ll catch 100 cricket balls and face 100 deliveries in the nets.
Becky White, Community Fundraiser at York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Matt and Ollie for taking on such a great challenge and choosing to support the Magnolia Centre. The money raised will make a huge difference to staff, patients, and visitors.”
